About Me

I’m Kate McDougall, a clinical hypnotherapist with specialist training in EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming). I work with adults and children from the age of 8, supporting people who feel stuck, overwhelmed, anxious, or disconnected from themselves and who want calm, confidence, and clarity back in their lives.
Alongside my therapeutic work, I am also a teacher with over 17 years of experience. This background has strongly shaped the way I work. It means I understand pressure, responsibility, emotional overload and how anxiety and stress can show up in learning, behaviour, sleep, confidence and everyday coping. It also means I bring patience, structure and emotional safety into my sessions — particularly when working with children and young people.

I run my clinic in Strathaven, and I also offer online sessions, making support accessible if attending in person isn’t practical.

As a dedicated clinical hypnotherapist specialising in Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), my passion lies in helping individuals unlock their fullest potential. Through personalised therapeutic approaches, I guide clients in overcoming challenges, achieving wellness and cultivating a mindset for success. Step into a journey of self-discovery and transformation with me by your side.

How I work

My approach is calm, practical and person-centred. I don’t believe in pushing people to relive distressing experiences or forcing change through willpower alone. Instead, I work with the unconscious mind and nervous system, helping patterns that no longer serve you to soften and shift in a way that feels safe and manageable.
Using a blend of clinical hypnotherapy, EFT, and NLP, I support clients with issues including:
  • anxiety and high-functioning stress
  • burnout and emotional exhaustion
  • insomnia and sleep difficulties
  • phobias (including fear of flying)
  • confidence and self-esteem
  • habits such as smoking and sugar cravings

Often, habits or behaviours are not the core issue, but a coping strategy for anxiety, stress, or emotional overwhelm. Our work focuses on addressing what’s underneath, so change feels more sustainable and less like a constant battle.
